Our Mission

The purpose of the Office of Annual Giving at Spelman College is to effectively raise funds from all constituency groups, encouraging annual contributions that support and advance the mission of Spelman College. Gifts to the Annual Fund (Unrestricted Fund), support the College’s strong legacy and is the foundation for transformative change.

Alumnae Fundraising Results

Spelman alumnae contributed more than $2 million to the College during fiscal year 2017 (July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017), the Division of Institutional Advancement announced. Over the year, 6,060 alumnae made gifts to their alma mater, resulting in 32.2 percent participation.

Alumnae support builds the foundation on which students can continue the Spelman legacy and allows the College to fund the priorities and initiatives that enhance that legacy.

“It’s an exciting time to be a part of the Spelman community,” said Jessie Brooks, vice president of Institutional Advancement. “Thank you to our alumnae, faculty and staff, students and friends who supported Spelman in fiscal year 2017.”

History of Every Woman...Every Year!

In 2006, Spelman College launched the Every Woman… Every Year! campaign to increase Alumnae participation and the support of EVERY alumna EVERY year. Over the last 10 years, our alumnae participation rate has doubled, helping Spelman remain the No. 1 HBCU since the campaign launch. This year our goal is 35% alumnae participation and we cannot reach this goal without YOU.
