Notice of Information for Pauline E. Drake
Program Sessions:

2nd Wednesday in February

The Spelman College Pauline E. Drake Program, formerly known as the Gateway Program, is for mature students, typically at least 25 years old and independent of their parents, who have the desire to return to a higher education environment.

A Pauline E. Drake Program student is expected to demonstrate leadership and service and to excel academically. She may be a full-time student (enrolled in 12 to 18 semester credit hours) or a part-time student (enrolled in 1 to 11 credit hours). She may choose any major that is offered at Spelman. When enrolled, she will be assigned an advisor who will counsel her on the academic program she should follow.

Spelman does not offer weekend, accelerated classes or programs. The academic program in the Spelman bulletin covers ways to receive credit for knowledge you already have through CLEP examinations and the Portfolio Assessment.

Housing on campus is not available for Pauline E. Drake Program students.

Upon completion of her studies, she will be awarded a bachelor's degree. Spelman does not offer programs leading to the master's degree.

If you feel that Spelman will be the right college for you and that you will be the right student for Spelman, please submit your application and supporting documents well in advance of the deadline dates. Follow the application instructions for Pauline E. Drake Program or transfer students.

Application Deadlines:

April 1 for August enrollment; and November 1 for January enrollment.
